Do u trust your gp's opinion...ask them too.
Yes I've heard similar stories!! Something is definitely not right there!! I'm sure there are some people who have positive experiences but the negatives are too bad to ignore and occurring to frequently there for my liking!

Thanks for the advice. I'm grateful to the people who replied with recent birth stories. My GP isn't great, based in the city near where I work so I just go to him for convenience. Can anyone recommend a good GP NOR?

Where abouts NOR? John Whitelaw at Stirling medical is fantastic but he's retiring soon

Just want to add. I had my DS2 at Joondalup and needed back surgery when he was 10mnths old due to their lack of care. I think you'll find there's horror stories at any hospital.

I agree that there are horror stories from everywhere but I still wouldn't go to OPH if I could avoid it.
OPH is my catchment hospital but I am going to the birthing centre at KEMH instead.
My main concern with OPH is there level of medical staff after hours, they are very light on and very junior. I however have this concern about all of the smaller hospitals, I am a nurse and I know lots of Dr's who have worked at these smaller hospitals and felt completely out of there depth in an emergency.
I like to have a backup plan incase anything went wrong, it's how I feel comfortable.
Fiona Middleton at Swan St Surgery is great if your near Tuart Hill.
Good luck and definitely go for some tours.

I had my twins at OPH in 2008. It was fine. I had a few fabulous midwives and a few not so fabulous. The Dr who delivered my boys was just lovely. I felt that I was left to my own devices most of the time, and that they were often really understaffed at night. I was in a private room so Hubby would hide in with me til about midnight just to help as I couldn't get any staff to help.

I'm having my next bub at Joondalup public. So far so good. The OB I have seen seemed respectful of my choices and they have followed up any issues promptly. I hope the delivery goes well as I am attempting a VBAC.

I agree with PP, go on a tour of the hospitals, ask about intervention rates and decide whats best for you. There are horror stories about all hospitals. Only you can decide which hospital suits your needs the best.
