Default Pcos after childbirth hair loss

    Hi ladies
I have pcos and now have a baby boy thanks to clomid ! He is 10weeks and havnt had af yet but i know that can be normal anyway..
But the hair loss i was having when i went off the pill and discovered i had pcos is back with a vengeance..

Anyone else out there had the hair loss aa symptom? What did you do after birth? In breast feeding so can't go back on yasmin which really helped me in past.
I really want to go back on it but will feel selfish i stop bf just because my hair is falling out

but yet its coming out in clumps overtime i was and getting so thin.

Would love to hear others experiences .. Thanks

Hi had PCO (with quite a few PCOS symptoms) prior to having DD and I am also a big fan of Yasmin for dealing with the symptoms!

I had heaps of hair fall out in the couple of months after having DD and the reading I did at the time + talking to OB said this is a common post-pregnancy thing. I didn't see anything linking it to PCOS at the time.

I have had this happen a couple of other times in my life. Once it started about a month after I had been very sick and another time a month after I had been incredibly stressed. My doc explained that when stressed/sick your body puts its energy into things other than growing hair, which makes the new hair growth weak. Once that weak spot on the hair shaft gets to the surface as the hairs grow, they break off easily, causing lots of shedding.

Hopefully it is just an after-effect from the stress of birth/new baby.

BTW - my PCO appeared to be gone post DD (3.5 years with regular cycles and no symptoms) and then came back after my 1st loss but only 1 ovary cystic! Pregnancy hormones do crazy things!!! So I would wait and see for now and hopefully you'll still have some hair left (I ended up with about half mine - thankfully no bald patches!). It is very scary when you're clogging the drain with every shower though!

hopefully its just a post pregnancy thing but it seemed to happen when i stopped the pill too which is why im so scared. if it doesn't calm down in a couple of months i thjbj i will head back to the doctor before i get patches ..
