Default Transitioning baby from bassinet to cot for day sleeps

Hi My DS is 4 months and sleeps downstairs in a bassinet for his day sleeps. I rock the bassinet to get him to sleep and he usually nods off within 5 mins. He is now getting too big for the bassinet so I want to get him to sleep in his cot upstairs for his day sleeps. I have tried on a few occasions to get him to sleep in his cot during the day by patting him but it has never really worked. I have also tried just leaving him and he is happy for about 10 - 15mins but then starts to cry so I go in and pick him up. At night I boob him to sleep and then put him in his cot and he sleeps well. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers

Hi, Do you think its the rocking or the bassinet that he is missing?

If it is the bassinet... are you able to pop it into the cot for a few sleeps so that he gets used to the new sights and smells of the cot and then transition him into the cot?

If it is the rocking... you may need to wean him off the rocking by doing it for less time each sleep until he doesn't need it anymore.

    Good Luck.

Hi Ilovehats Thanks for some great ideas. I think it is the rocking that gets him to sleep. I might try putting the bassinet in the cot tomorrow and see how that goes.
