    Default Not happy!!! With doctor

Hi everyone so dd has been seeing a specialist at the royal children's hospital and I don't like him as I have seen him before at a private practice when my ds was having sleep problems and all he said the whole time was I'm not impressed because I old him I thought next door could have been waking him up because they were loud. So anyway I took dd to her first appointment at the RCH as the family doctor is worried she has more then a speech delay and who do I get I get him. He said he would write to my daughters speech therapist and put her on a waiting list for another place. But to continue on with speech therapy. But didn't say anything about her having more the a speech delay knowing I too feel as tho there is more then a speech delay I told him this and again I'm not impressed I don't think so as I have been seeing children for 50 years etc. so because he has put my daughter on a waiting list for another program her PRIVATE speech therapist won't see her because they think they do see people that have more then a speech delay knowing he said that he doesn't think there is more then speech delay. Then df and I decided its in the bet interest to change doctors so I contact RCH and get this response via email Dear

If you would like to see another doctor, then yes your child will have to go back onto the waiting list, as we have children who have not even had their first appointment as yet and are still on the waiting list waiting for their turn. Please obtain a new referral sent through from your GP and your child will be placed on the waiting list.

    Thankyou

I think this is wrong if you have seen someone before and on the file it states must be seen in 3 months how can they put a nearly 4 year old on a waiting list where she was on the last waiting list for 18 months before being seen what happened to the days if you were not happy with a doctor you could change..

Do you think I am over reacting with being annoyed that I can't change? I have now kept this appointment with the doctor that I don't like and dd won't go near!!

Sorry yes I do think your overreacting, the public system is very stretched and if they kept changing children around everytime someone didn't like a Dr or an opinion they would never get anywhere, sorry!!

I'd just look into seeing a private paed and save all the run around with waiting lists, someone you don't like etc

Can I ask what it is you think your DD has more than a speech delay? I'm not sure exactly what answers you are looking for because a private paed may say the same thing as this first Dr!

We where seeing a private one who sent us to the RCH for testing and told us to also stay with the hospital as they will be able to help more then she would have been able to. The family doctor thinks she may have ASD but more serve. We pay at the RCH when we see this guy it is not like we are not paying you only get to see them free if you have a health care card which we don't. We paid $110 last time we saw him! That's why I am not impressed with it

I'm not sure I quite understand, but if it were me and I was concerned, I would book an appointment with a private paediatrician and just pay whatever I needed to (assuming you are in a position to do so).

We have already seen a private one who sent us as well as our family doctor they both sent me to the RCH with dd as they both said it would be in the best interest as they are able to tell me what's wrong with a lot quicker then what they both could.
