Oh here's one - when I was a teenager I finally discovered, it was called pubic hair not public hair. I had always wondered as a child why it was called public when it was supposed to be private.

    ---------

And here's another, as a child (primary school aged) for some wierd reason I thought that dogs were the male and cats were the female of the same species. And to make it even sillier - we had a pet dog and a pet cat - and both were female, so I have no idea where I got this misconception.

    Another one from me...

About 10 years ago I complained to an office full of men about how it wasn't fair that David Beckham had only been made England captain because he married Victoria. I had never heard of him until then, and kind of figured it was his new found fame... You can imagine how that went down.

    I have seen this!
One year (we are a V club members with virgin blue so get emails all the time) DH got an email saying they had "No seats, $1 Flights to anywhere"
Meaning if you didn't want to pay for your flight you could pay $1 and just stand in the isle for your entire flight (like you would on a bus or train when there is no seats left)
Dh was so excited and was planning on visiting family, and was getting quite excited!
It didn't sound right to me (health and safety?!? Turbulence??! People blocking exit doors?!) so I checked out the email.. It was from Virgin Blue, it did say $1 flights if you stood in the isle.. Along with many other far fetched terms and conditions.. But in big writing it said "ONLY AVAILABLE APRIL 1St OFFER ENDS AT 12PM"
    It was April's 1st..
Dh got sucked in big time

Yay, now I don't feel so silly to admit that in primary school, not only did I think Victoria was the capital of New South Wales, but I also thought Asia was IN Europe.

About 4 years ago (so I'd have been about 23) DH referred to something I'd said as "convoluted" - I thought he'd made the word up as I had NEVER heard it before (which is quite surprising as a lot of my stories/dreams/thought processes could easily be described as convoluted!)

When I was a kid I thought that the first person on earth was called Adameese (Adam and Eve joined together) so I would keep asking Mum who the other one was! It took her ages to work out what I was on about!

And I'm really bad about sport too. I know few sports people at all. And for ages I thought in cricket that "out for a duck" was someone ducking in front of the ball - kind of like LBW with your body!
