    Default Extra mortgage repayments?

To those with a house mortgage, how much extra do you put on top of your minimum repayments per week/fortnight.

Around $200 extra per week. We still pay what we did when we mortgaged this house and we paid a big chunk off at the end of last year and rates have come down a fair bit.

We paid off as much as we could possibly afford.
It was only DH and I then, so we lived off one wage, paid the entire other wage directly onto the mortgage.
We paid it off in around 7 years (but in that time sold for a profit and moved interstate then paid off the remainder)

I was telling my DM how we are paying heaps extra off ours, but then I was just wondering what classifies as 'heaps' more, lol.

    Anywhere between $200 - $600 a week.

I asked the bank a month ago as we just started a new loan after renovations. They said $200 a week extra would reduce the loan to 19 years and paying $600 a week extra would reduce the loan to 11 years.

About $500 a month. We make paying extra off the mortgage a real priority as the mortgage is our biggest debt by far and the sooner we get it paid off the better!

We put as much as we have left over each fortnight.. sometimes that's like 600 bucks and other times it's nothing or we might even have to pull some money off if we have a big month.
