Default Please help with heating :)

Hi, I am not the smartest cookie with heating here, as obviously we heat slightly different in cold Europe After looking around, and being scared to death that we are getting a shocking power bill with our current electric heaters, I was wondering if there is sth like indoor gas heaters using those bottles that we use in our bbq iykwim???
We do have a gas connection with bottle in the backyard BUT we are renting and the house is in really bad state, never taken care of and the owner is cutting costs and corners where he can so I would be VERY worried that there might be sth wrong with the connection... No idea what to do (((

No ... Those BBQ gas bottles are really dangerous indoors for heating.
You could try one of those oil heaters (I think a bit like a radiator in Europe?) that plugs in ... They are supposed to be cheaper to run.
Personally I would take it up with my landlord tho

Yes the heating situation here is different from Europe ;-)

We use an electric oil heater on a timer for DS's bedroom and have another electric heater in the main living area which I try and not use too much. I do lots of cooking with our oven as that seems to warm up the place. We also have thermal curtains and draft excluders on the doors.

I think you can get mains gas heaters but your house needs to have the connection. I've not seen a gas bottle type heater here, but I know the type you mean and we used to have one in our conservatory back home.

We do use lots of electric in the few months when it's cold, but don't use any heating for the rest of the year so it does balance out over the year.
