Thanks everyone. She seemed a little better today, she had a terrible nights sleep but had a good 2.5hr nap this morning and has been much brighter since then.

She was prescribed a ventolin (sp?) puffer with spacer at one of the GP visits but it didn't help much. The vaporizer doesn't do much either, it helps when she's stuffy with a cold but doesn't do much for this cough.

Last time we went to the GP they suspected it was caused by the excess drool running down her throat. I also thought that was why but now I'm not so sure, especially since she sleeps on her tummy and it wouldn't be running down her throat.

Cough can be a good thing cos it is clearing the throat so goo doesn't go into the lungs (and cause infections or pneumonia).

I was gonna suggest what the GP said, the excess mucus and saliva is going to her throat and she is coughing to clear it.

I'm glad she seemed better after her nap today. I hope she has a better night tonight.
