Default How we fixed our Sons Colic / Wind issues

From when our Son was a new born, he would scream with pain, with what seemed to us as tummy problems. But we were new parents and were pretty much clueless. We tried all sorts of things to help him, (losec, different formulas (even though I could breast feed him easily), chiro, controlled my diet etc) but nothing worked. In the end we took him to a physo (Chris Teale - SA) who also recommended that we give him baby probiotics. Within a week, we had a different baby. Of all the people I spoke to about his issues only one suggested probiotics, I don't think many people are aware of them, so I wanted to share what worked for us to others. It's worth mentioning the probiotics we used were special baby probiotics, not the regular supermarket variety.

Amaranth, I'm in Adelaide too. Was he hard to get in to see? Did you need a doctors referral?

Was there anything else he did to help? I'm just wondering if he just happened to know that probiotics help and suggested it to you, or if that was his professional diagnosis of your bub's issues.

I think it would make sense that probiotics would help an upset stomach in a baby. I'm excited to think that might be all my little one needs!

The probiotic is called babybiotic for 0+ years. It is powder that you mix with either milk or water and then give it to them in a syringe, and it must note taste too bad, because it has alway been easy to get him to drink it. It is distributed by a company in NSW, telephone number on the bottle is 1300 650 455, if you called them, they might be able to tell you were it is sold in your state. I bought it through the physo that I took my son to. Chris Teale (lady) her number is 0404 896 844, and she is in Rose Park (SA). Her website is http://www.evolvemanualtherapy.com.au/

Good Luck folks, i hope it works for you.

We were also given this advice by a friend who is a pediatric research fellow here in SA, worked a treat. Vaalia baby yoghurt (from 6months on the packet) can be given from on 6 weeks ( plain or vanilla only) & it also works well but is a lesser dose than the probiotic

Chris Teale (Lady) wasn't hard to get an appointment with, maybe a two week wait only. She isn't great at returning messages, so just keep calling. No referral needed. The treatment/massage that she gave our son, in my opinion also helped.

It wasn't a professional diagnosis, just another thing we tried in a long list. This was what finally worked.

    Good Luck

I'm at my wits end with my 8 month old. Tried everything so I bought some. Couldn't get that brand but I got inner health kids 3 month plus which is also a powder. He likes the taste I just spoon it in his mouth dissolved in water. Was just curious as to how long it took you to see an improvement. Thanks
