I'm currently unemployed (left job due to medical reasons in Feb, was on a medical certificate but that's now run out.) So obviously I need to do something. I have my first appointment with the Centrelink job people on the 19th June and I'm considering telling them I want to be a personal trainer.
This will involve studying for a Cert 3/4 in Fitness yes? I have qualifications in Training & Assessment (I worked in the industry for over 4 years) Retail, Business and even IT. So the qualification doesn't worry me because I'm extremely familiar with the process. I think I may even be able to get some credit transfers or RPL/RCC from units I've completed in my other quals.
So my questions are, what will the job people do with me - get me enrolled somewhere? How long does it take, 12-24 months? If I do enroll somewhere do they change my payment from Newstart to Austudy? Is that less? Believe me I want to work, so bad, I really hate this unemployment cr.ap, but I've wanted to do this for a while so I'm thinking now is my chance.
(I have 25-30kg to lose but I'm not going to let that stop me!!)
Any help/advice would be appreciated!!
ETA: I guess I can get a part time job while studying, or is it usually a full time thing?
