Karate and theatre don't dress your child up to be a sexualised object.

I find it creepy that adults sit in judgement on a child's beauty. Who does that??? I especially find the male judges ultra creepy.

At my nieces dance recital I was horrified at some of the acts, they were doing moves you see on drunk tarty girls at a club. It was the jazz ballet ones that were bad and my niece will not be picking that class up. It was borderline kiddie porn.

I woud've thought dancing was more about the dance moves as opposed to looks. I'm not always happy with the things some little children are made to wear while dancing, but I do think it's mostly about talent as opposed to 'beauty'. These pageants are teaching little ones that they are being judged on their looks.

The tanning, hair dying etc is just so over the top. $4,000 per month is pretty extreme. I'd prefer to put that toward my child's brain (education) than a child's looks.

Anyone see the Toddlers and Tiara's episode where the winning contestant was a little (3yo?) girl who dressed up as Julia Roberts..... as Vivian in Pretty Woman!! Complete with knee high boots and miniskirt...

Depending on what kind of dancing you're talking about? I am currently considering putting my son through ballroom dance lessons when he starts primary school. Great fun, great socializing and great exercise.

Umm he would, it's right there in the bible:

'and God commanded that his daughters be adorned with rhinestones, spray of the hair, sun in a bottle, and they shalt parade through the land, reaping ratings whereever they shalt wander., to the harmony of the Lord's song; Sexy And I Know It. For so it was told in the Book of Vajazzle'
