Default Some stress about my body image.

    Hi ladies,

I just went to look online and subscribe to a pregnancy magazine. I wanted to have tips and insight into my pregnancy so that I do everything right (as humanly poss).

I have been diagnosed with Anorexia. This diagnosis was in 2007 and it does have its moments, it comes and go's (at least for me). I think it's a part of my low body image.

My point of anxiety today was when I went here: http://www.subscribetoday.com.au/sto...=2692&id=30729 to subscribe to a magazine.

The woman on the front is drop dead ridiculously stunning, she has perfect skin, hair, thighs that could crack walnuts and a belly with not one imperfection. Between that and looking in the mirror I see some major discrepancy.

Is anyone else here feeling a little upset about how women are portrayed as perfect size 10 babes all day every day but also now in pregnancy...

Feeling pretty cranky, wishing they would show a few women that are real and have stretchmarks like me!! or some cellulite!! or some frizzy bed hair at 2pm during the day!!!

    Thanks Gurling x

I just had a look & she hardly looks pregnant! Just looks like shes pushing her tummy out!

Massive hugs from my end.. I have had body issues for as long as I can remember. During pregnancy I wasn't too bad, it's been post pregnancy I've had a lot of issues.

Your P.O.V. regarding the model is very correct, don't be hard on yourself as these women are photo-shopped to the nines!

have you joined your D.I.G here on the hub? There will be women going through exactly what you're going through (and possibly been through it before as well!) & will be able to help and offer useful advice

Remember, a lot of the time these images are photoshopped, so what you see isn't real. She probably has stretch marks and cellulite and pimples. Anyone can look good with a bit of photoshop.

I think the only reason the model looks perfect is because she has been photoshopped. I hope you feel better soon but just remember models in magazines and on front covers are rarely reality.

Articles like this one make me feel better:

It probably doesn't help that people think that once you become pregnant, it is perfectly acceptable to comment on your size

I'm normally a size 8 and have put on 18kg (to be induced on Monday), most seems to be in my belly but by no means all of it! I've also never had stretchmarks and now have them. But I have made the most out of the fact that I am now a D-cup, exposing cleavage as much as I could, and have had some pretty positive feedback about them .

The woman in that pic is as shopped as hell

    Of course shes photoshopped xx

even if she is that fit looking in real life she would still have some blemishes, her hair wouldnt be that perfect all the time and if no stretch marks probably because she is only early in her pregnancy, maybe 15/16 weeks?

I have huge body image issues about my thighs (I think about 100% of women have body image issues over some part of themselves hehe)

the rest of me is probably a bit smaller then her (in the boobs/arms) but my thighs have more cellulite and pockets of fat around them giving me the chicken leg look/pear shape

Im sure you look beautiful!! I bet you worry way more about yor bofy then any men/anyone, who probably think you look great!

Sorry to hear youve had anorexia! Its a horrible thing to have and you should never have to feel that down about your body, ever! Remember 15kg overweight is still much healthier than a seriously underweight girl, and I do believe that magazines/social media cause and encourage these awful disorders.

Feel better. Marilyn Monroe was super sexy without being photoshopped 'skinny'

I have struggled with eating disorders also, but i think a pregnant wman is the MOST attractive woman in the world! To me there is nothing better than being pregnant. Yes you feel frumpy and your body does things you weren't expecting, but you are growing a human being inside of you...... Don't judge yourself in comparison to pregnant women on the covers of magazines, they are all airbrushed etc. Look at real like pictures of pregnant women, go to baby stores and look around, everyone feels the same at some point in their pregnancy!

my advice, enjoy the pregnancy and your pregnant body! Don't worry about other people, just enjoy every second of it!!!
