Default Entertainment for an almost 2 year old on a plain?

We are going in Europe for 8 weeks with DS 2 years old and DD 7 months old. The trip all together will be around 24 hrs with one big stop in Dubai airport for 4 hrs. What suggestions you have to take on the plain for DS? So far I thought of one small car, the hot wheels one, a new book...and that's all I could come up with.

when we did this trip with our 15 month old we brought along the following:

Portable DVD player and various movies/tv shows
Old favorite toys and new ones which I wrapped up and brought them out every so often
Colouring in books, pencils, plain paper for drawing
    Small games
    Cars
Lots and lots of snacks, not too sugary though
    Reading books

The TV screens they have are great. Some simple games on your smartphone if you have one. A little notebook and pen for scribbles. some small junky bits from the $2 shop to pull out when needed. We ended up swapping these with other kids on the plane lol.
But the best entertainers were the screens, the smartphone and walking around the plane when the seatbelt sign was off. Other passengers were bored too and happy to see a baby coming and the hosties live babies too
We found our girls slept on the second leg too, I think that's common from talking to others. What time is your departure?

Portable DVD player!! And iPhone/Pad/Android tablet.

I was paranoid about our battery running out - we got a great little "rechargeable charger" for the iPhone which meant even on the plane we could charge it fully at least once.

Thanks for the tips! I got iPad and iPhone, and already have few games and shows for him. Will put some more before we leave too. I thought of the colouring, will bring that too. We are departing at 6:30pm, so just on time for a sleep Did anyone gave your LO's some Panadol or something else for take off/landing? I'm a bit scared them might get ear pain.

I brought panadol because they both had ear infections on the outward leg (that was a nightmare of a journey, they basically screamed the while 1st leg poor things)
I don't think it's necessary unless they are unwell. A dummy, bottle, breast feed or a lollipop to suck on will be far more effective the sucking helps the ears balance.
