Selling horses :(

Why is it so hard to sell horses at the moment ???

I've got a perfect kids pony for sale and I can't mange to sell him.

I know I've probably got a bit of $$ on him but hes worth it as hes so quiet and he can do everything.

It's really getting me down, dd needs a bigger horse but I need to sell our pony first

Maybe you have too much $$ on it? Id never pay big money for a kids pony, that may be just me though, there were lots of kids at pony club with insanely expensive horses.

As much as id love another horse, there is no way we could afford another yet, and we have so many we things we want to do before spending money on something like another horse... And in order to do these things we are both working and busy etc.. No time for another horse either... I assume many people would be in the same boat?

Yeah I guess, I can't afford 2 thats why I have to sell our pony. I dont think I've got that much $$ on him, I've seen less educated ponies going for more but with the way the market is going atm I wonder if I'll ever sell him. I did have $4500 on him but have dropped it to $3000, believe me hes worth that much, hes so quiet and is almost exclusively handled by dd who is 9, he is good at everything and particularly loves sporting and jumping.

Not sure what to do.

You need to start by checking out your competition and what they are selling for and what extras they are offering too ( tack and rugs do make a sale more inviting) also if they are offering free trial etc. It is easier to sell stuff after july when ppl have done their tax and have a bit extra money.
Personally tho I didnt want a quick sale with my horses as much as I wanted them to go to a good horsy home and alot of ppl just dont have $3000 lying around atm with the cost of everything going up.

Yeah I've advertised that he comes with rugs and a false tail. I would never sell him to a home that I didn't feel he was compatable with. If it were up to me I'd keep him but the reality is I can't afford the upkeep of 2. Our pony is really spoilt and I'd like it if he stayed that way lol, I dont think I'd do a trial, they could come to us and ride him as much as they want until they were sure he'd suit them but he wouldn't be leaving the property until he was paid for.

Oh well I'm sure I'll find him the perfect home eventually lol

I had to sell my fully educated horse for $800. He could do two time canter changes. Half pass. Jump over a meter. Road ride, quiet as they come, so well educated it was insane and that is all I could get.

I sold our pony for a lot less than I wanted but he went to an excellent home so I'm happy about that.

I have found my daughter a new horse but this one is more than I wanted to pay but I know this horse, he belongs to my friend and he's so quiet, easy to ride, can do everything so I'm willing to pay.
