    My parents are Granny and Poppy/Pop. XMIL (now passed) was Nanna and XFIL is Pa. My Granny is still with us and we thought we'd just go with Granny for her as well but DS1 called her Old Granny once and it stuck! She loves it LOL.

    We called my Grandad Fugug!! Don't know why PMSL.

    I think Mama was originally used for grandma's and it means Ma's Ma. If that makes sense. In Sweden, you say Mormor (mum's mum) or Farmor (dad's mum).

    anyway that's OT.

    I don't think there's anything offensive about Omi? I'd probably roll with it if that's what she wants.

    Ah. GG here doesn't have a hubby so it's just her. As for the try hard GG, if I referred to her as Old Nan to her face....well....it just doesn't bear thinking about!
