    Default Trisomy 18?

    Hi Guys
had an OB appt today and he read back my results- 1:18000 downs and 1:266 trisomy 18. My GP never read me the numbers when he gave me the results last week as they are both considered normal but the OB said that he needed to tell me about the 1:266 even though the lab still considered is low risk.

So I FREAKED and asked if I needed an amnio- OB said Oh no, we will just see how we go at the 20 week scan looking for soft markers. Great. five weeks of worry ahead of me.

So question is, oh wise BH woman- should I be worried? Or is this a totally un-worrysome result??

I had a result very similar to your for Trisomy 18. My OB also said no need for amnio and wait till 20 weeks scan. At the 20 week scan they were really thorough in checking out the heart (which apparently is a big sign). I had to go back at 24 weeks for another because bub was not in the best position to check everything. Long story short I got told his heart is completely normal and therefore am in the clear.
It is a bit scary having to wait but I trusted my OB and her recommendations.

    Fingers crossed for you

Thanks.. great to hear! I know really, 1:266 is not a big number but still. Still scares me a little! Must stop googling!

I had a 1:55 risk, had a cvs and got the all clear. Mine was high risk due to low Papp-a result (0.07 and it's meant to be around 1.0).

I wouldn't be overly concerned, but say your prayers and wait till the 20 week mark. It's still a very small odd in the big scheme of things.. Good luck
