    Default Are canned soups safe?

    Hi there

Im newly pregnant and petrified of everything!

I felt like and have just eaten some canned chicken soup for dinner. It just occured to me that this might not have been a safe choice.

    Can anyone shed some light?

It was a Campbells (i think) country chicken. Was yummy!

I read things about the salt, BPA and other chemicals.

I didnt even eat that much of it and I avoided the processed chicken (most of it still got a few bits in).

Just worrying about everything really, want everything to be ok

food hygiene wise can food is perfectly safe as it is heat treated.

tins generally do have BPA which is best avoided, but I wouldn't stress too much.

salt wise i was told per 100gm if the sodium is more the 500(dont know what measurement is called?) then it is high salt.

Again, i woudln't stress too much - its more salt levels for mum health that they are concerned about I would have thought and if its not an everyday/every meal occurance I wouldn't stress too much.

    Good luck with your pregnancy.

Do you research on lysteria and basic food hygiene and you should have your bases covered. Everythign else, even the things less then ideal aren't too much of a worry I don't think?
