1 Corinthians 6:11 - "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."(NIV)
    Its all in the interpretation.

Its lists practices that will not inherit Gods kingdom

    Then it states

That is "what some of you were" meaning they are no longer practicing these sins and have been forgiven and made clean.

    Pretty straight forward

I just popped in to say I ordered this book this morning I looked at a few of the same type, but this was the only one that was consistently reviewed as unbiased which is

I get what you are saying about "more info" but really as a starting point, you wouldn't want to overwhelm a child with 200 pages on 30 different religions. The detail can come later for us. But thank you for the recommendation

    - punishing a woman - to marry her rapist is encouraging a man to treat her nicely?

    ok.

You defended that passage without watching the doco - that makes me sad.

In the doco they talk about the 'not to lie with a man' passage - 'In context' of a time where they were trying to increase their population - 'spilling seed' or a man being with a man would've been a 'waste'.
That it wouldn't have helped their cause.

It had nothing to do with an internal 'sexuality'...which is the issue we are well aware of today.

And that the term 'unnatural' simply meant - 'not the norm in our society' as homosexual behaviour had been witnessed as 'normal/natural' in Greek society.

It seriously is ALL about interpretation.

..and even though the people in the doco believe in diety I personally think does not exist -- I much prefer their 'interpretation' of ancient text.

Not if the word was uncleared as in "hey you guys were unclean, but now you've been washed and are clean ", but it doesn't say stop being gay.

BTW - LGBT people are not 'practicing' these sins, they are living a life

Mark 7 also says its attitude or thoughts that are sinful and does not mention homosexuality.

20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder,22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

...putting this whole argument back in terms of the OP --- who wouldn't WANT their young children 'educated' in these passages - ( passages grown people who study and practise can't even agree on) ..to form their basic opinions on issues that affect our socity TODAY!?
They are sooooo straight forward, not confusing at all and obviously demonstrate acceptance, tolerance and equality.

As far as the scripture in Duet, you have to look at it in context. It is in regards to laws of the nation of Israel, its a historical record not specific instruction like the new testament.

It was a law to discourage a man from treating a woman in such a way and as the quoted text says lessen the problem of illegitimacy

    WHAT???

Sorry - but the defense of that passage of scripture is to reduce illegitimacy??
Thank goodness today's modern laws have moved away from this ancient text and based today's laws on morals and ethics far far away from those in the bible.

They talk about how some passages taken out of context or being misinterpreted can lead some people to think different things.
and how some churches can preach a 'spin' on an incorrect interpretation.

(which makes sense to me - considering most people go off of an edited, translated, re edited, re translated, ommited, re edited, and re edited version of the bible.)

for example - this passage could be taken a few different ways?

    Deuteronomy 22:28-29 reads,
“If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.”

If you can defend THIS passage and not see the point of view of others defending the passages that get quoted about homosexuality - then, that makes me sad.
Thats not what it says or i said you are taking it way out of context. Illegitimacy was one reasons not the main reason. Its an historical record. And thats right with the doing away of the mosaic law and the new covenant with Jesus those laws are obsolete.

And all the points you metioned about homosexuality from the video fiveinabed, i disagree and said i wasnt interested. Its just people trying to lax Gods standards, and ignoring the rest of the scriptures which condemn it, its not only homosexuality where this is happening tho is it? The bible said this would be the case. I could argue this till im blue in the face and pull out scripture after scripture but im wasting my time if the readers have no regard for the bible or Gods laws (not saying all do)

Thank you for your time and Enjoy the rest of your day ladies

They only cant agree on it when they try and twist Gods word to suit their own beliefs and ideals rather than letting Gods word guide their thinking. Hence so much confusion.

You either accept the bible as Gods word, or you dont

what 'version' of the Bible do you follow shanboc?

The doco I am talking about doesn't attack Christianity at all.

I mentioned it because a poster said it would be beneficial to use the bible to educate chidlren on modern issues.

Sexual immorality encompasses fornication, homosexuality or sex outside of marriage which is stated in the bible to be between a man and a woman.

Just to make it clear, i dont have any hatred towards a gay person. I just dont approve of their lifestyle, and im sure there are many who wouldnt approve of mine Its God who i believe will judge, not me

And i would never vote for or against Gay marriage for those who raised the issue of Gay marriage and using scripture to argue against it.

I Dont vote as i dont believe politics and religion should mix. Jesus himself remained neutral in the politics of his day.

Ok i really need to go, have a little girl who needs my attention and have said all i need to say.
