    Smile Same-sex Couple TTC

    Hi all,

I have started this thread in the hope of finding people that can relate to mine and my partners experiences and troubles in regards to TTC. My partner and I are a female-female same sex couple and have been TTC for approx 18 months now and since we began our journey I have been following many threads already started here but I have had trouble finding people that fully understand what we are going through. So I guess I just wanted to put this thread up in the hope of finding people we can share our experiences with and people can share theirs with us.

Cant wait to find some like-minded people to share our journey

    Talk soon

    Hi Hon!

My partner and I are planning to start TTC end of this year. How are you trying to conceive? We're planning on doing IUI with international donor sperm as I had a known donor but he backed out when I gave him dates.

It can be difficult when people don't really get it. They can empathise, but no one can experience the emotions of the two women involved. I'll be carrying no. 1 hopefully and DP struggles with the fact that she can't physically give me the baby I so desperately want, but then she's happy with the way we've arranged it.

We've just bought a new car and are moving into a bigger place in preparation for it all but I just wish we could go for gold now! Even though there's only 6 months to go...

    Where are you in Australia?

    Good luck

    Hey :-)

My ex DP and I tried for almost a year and it was not successful so I understand what you're going through!

With my DP we are planning to start TTC possibly in 2014, if not a little earlier and I'm so excited!!!

    Hi Rainbow!

Firstly, thanks for joining this thread! I'm so glad there is someone else out there that can relate!! Ok, I'll give you a wee bit of history on our journey so far. We have a known donor tested and on ice (was a lengthy process), we have tried a few times in the last year with an unknown international donor via IUI and now we have another international donor on ice ready to go. We have had to change FS because it felt as if the thousands we were paying were just to pay off one of the porsche's he probably has and not much else, so we are trying a new FS this coming Thursday to commence IVF. Thats the story kind of in a nut shell lol. DP and I are in Brisbane, I will go first purely because I am older (30) and DP will carry second because she is 2 years younger. We have talked seriously about it since 2009-2010 and started the process 2 years ago, TTC 18months. I just feel like it is being unnecessarily dragged out by my current and soon to be previous FS. Cant wait to meet this new FS on Thursday, we have had friends go through him really successfully and highly recommend him . Where are you guys???

    Cheers

We are in Sydney. The clinic we're going through has been recommended to me with rave reviews and specialise in same sex couples and single women so I'm really happy with that decision.

We were going to originally start in September but DP wanted to push it back until Dec when she knows for sure she's finished her first year of probation (she's a newly graduated police officer).

KnockKnock - where do you live?

Hey my dp and I started our journey 8 months ago where we were told that we had to go down the ivf road because they weren't allowing iui due to the lack of sperm in Australia and lack of sperm imported into Australia due to changing legislations. I was pretty bummed about it due to money but we scraped what we could get together and had our first ivf cycle in apr/may with an American sperm donor and i guess I'm very lucky because I'm pregnant and have 16 potential embryos in the freezer. I live in nth qld and would love to be involved with other gay parents I know they are out there but it seems to me they keep to themselves *shrugs shoulders*

I heard that Westmead clinic in Sydney is really well priced, we considered going there and we wont rule anything out at this stage. How old are you guys?
