Default seeking good clinic in Queensland, and the costs?

    Hi everyone
I am just after some advice on a good clinic in Brisbane or near abouts? I am not sure whether I will be trying IUI or going straight to IVF as I have only just started researching all this. I am 39 and single (with a 9 year old daughter) and am wanting to have another child so am exploring my different options considering I have no man in my life. I have very limited savings so am trying to establish what the costs would be. I have read that unfortunately Qld is more expensive than other states?
    Thanks

    Hi Stormgirl73,
I am also researching clinics in brisbane as i have just moved here. So far I have found out that Dr Warren DeAmbrosis (QFG) is the best but unfortunately retiring at the end of this year so not taking on any new patients. The next most recommendations I have are with Dr Molloy (also QFG). I have just made an appointment with him this morning and the earliest i could get in is 2nd July. That seems the be the normal wait time ( i tried 2 others and their earliest available was July/Ausgust). QFG seem to be the most highly regarded clinic.
As to cost, I can't help you with that just yet. We did our first 2 IVF cycles in Canberra and from what i have gathered Canberra is WAY more expensive than brisbane.
There is a heap more info on the Calling BRISBANE ladies OI, IUI, IVF & FET *~* #8 thread.
    Good luck on your journey.

I just rang QFG which put me through to the Toowoomba clinic and they said I would have to see Dr Esler and could get in as early as next week.
Does anyone know anything about him??

Yes I heard great things about Dr Warren DeAmbrosis, pity he is retiring. What wonderful timing we have!
Apparently the QFG is quite costly not what I needed to hear.
I wonder if all clinics through the QFG charge the same as I hear Toowoomba is expensive.
I also came across a clinic called The City Fertility Centre. Does anyone know anything about that??

I recommend Bob Watson at QFG. Sorry, I don't know too much about the Toowoomba ones. Bob Watson's based at the North West Private (Brisbane).

If you do go see Dr Esler please let me know how you go. I am currently a patient of Dr Higgins at QFG in the city but am on a break due to family/financial issues but am thinking of transferring to the toowoomba clinic in sept/oct when we start treatment again as we are moving house in July to half way between Brisbane and toowoomba and my husband works in toowoomba so makes more sense to transfer to him. I was very surprised to see that he is he only infertility specialist in the whole town!!!
Anyhow I did medicated IUI cycles with Dr Higgins and they were costing me $1064 with $510 back through Medicare but all Drs in he QFG group set their own prices.
    Good luck with it all

    Hi siege
What was your opinion of Dr Higgins??
Apparently Toowoomba (Dr Esler) is very expensive
I so confused and no idea where to turn.
Anyway I live half way between Ipswich and Toowoomba but am considering a move back to Ipswich as I hardly have any friends out here and it gets lonely, although I LOVE the country life.

Stormgirl73 - if you're prepared to travel to brisbane check out the Fertility Centre Springwood. Apparently QFG refer people to there that require low cost. Having said that the travel costs might be the same as the difference so may not be a viable option. Still worth a look.

I love him!! He is very quiet but very thorough and he is a bit of a looker for his age
It will be sad to have to change but I'll be living half way between also in a few months so makes better
I did look into monash/bub tree as the Dr there works in their Ipswich clinic (I work in Wacol so this would have been perfect) but he is only in Ipswich on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons - I forget which one? And all his IUI and IVF are done at his Sunnybank clinic so kinda defeats the purpose!!
I took out PHI knowing that I can't fall naturally so what ever IVF in toowoomba costs will be pretty much covered with that... I hope
Also in the latest edition of the QFG news letter/magazine thing that just came out, Dr Esler has had like 20 babies born in the last quarter... Seriously all the names filled like 2 columns!
