Statistically, the first relationship after the break down of a long term relationship/marriage doesn't work. The reason for this is because it's believed that first relationship is simply a means to 'get over' the long term relationship that has ended.

Perhaps people are marrying that first relationship too soon?

the divorce rate is a reason why we don't really care if we marry or not (we have been together for 8 years..) we are engaged though..

I think people may rush into marriage ..say within a couple years of dating.I also think it takes at LEAST 5 years to really know someone!!

Not really sure why some feel they need to get married so fast..also you grow apart..or if your really young you mature..
I know I am not the same person I was at 20 (32 now)..I would not have married the guy I was with when I was young..as my taste in men has changed as I got older....
