Get to a doctor ASAP because if it is shingles the faster you get the anti viral meds the better. Hope for your sake it's not though. I've had them and it sucks.

Did your dad have weeping blisters? Unless you've touched the secretions it's very hard to catch.

Eta - its nothing to do with rubella. It's related to chicken pox.

you wont catch shingles from someone with shingles, but if you have never had chickenpox you can get chickenpox if you touch the liquid from the blisters of someone with shingles. Where are your itchy patches? Shingles appear in an area of skin supplied by one nerve. Often in a band around your chest (following around like the ribs do) or otherwise the other most common site is on forehead (one side) and into hairline slightly. They dont cause random itchy spots all over your body. Sometimes you get pain before the lesions appear.

I had shingles down my back when I was 16 weeks pregnant. My daughter came out fine. Can you post a photo? Looks like little red raised dots. Pain is like someone is pricking you with pins.

I agree get it checked out ASAP because I had an injection called Zoster which stopped mine from being as severe. It was almost gone by one week.
