I have DS in childcare for 2 days a week. I have only just finished studying and have decided to keep him in for those two days as I am looking for part time work, I need a break (sole parent with ASD toddler), and he needs to be around other children plus they have an aide for him. I love his childcare and would hate to lose his spot there if I ever needed to pull him out and honestly, those two days are the only reason I keep my sanity some weeks when we are having one meltdown after another.
DS 2 and a half, DD ten months. They are in three days a week because I work.
My son was in full-time day care for ten months before I had DD.
I tried getting them into family daycare, but they were all full. So I found a centre that I like. Its great for my toddler, he does Happy Feet once a week (dance lessons) and lots of craft, and has access to a lot of different toys. Not so great for my baby, she has been in since 6mths. She is very easy going tho, and has never cried when I leave her in. I don't think there is a benefit for her going, its just what we have to do, but I definitely think there is a benefit for my older child. His speech, counting, alphabet, social skills, motor skills, attention span, everything has come on since he has been going to daycare.
DD (15months) has just started at daycare 2 days a week because I am going back to work and there is no family available to look after her. I only plan to go back to work for 12months so after that we will reassess. If she loves it I will probably continue to let her go 1 day for socialisation however after the 12months working I will be a sahm until our youngest child (currently dd) is at school so will only use daycare if I believe it will benefit the child and probably not until they are 2 or 3 years old.
