Default ** spin off ** worst thing you've been asked to do as a bridesmaid?!

As a spin off to various threads as the title states - what's the worst thing you've been asked to do as a bridesmaid?

    I will start

Mine is I was asked to wear silver jewelry by the bride even though she knew I was allergic to silver!!!

When I reminded her of this allergy she had known about for years she replied 'I know but it's the necklace I *really* want and all the other bridesmaids like them, you can suck it up for one day can't you?'

Needless to say I ended up with a horrible red rash over my neck and upper chest in all the photos!!!! And then she gets sh1tty with me that the photographer had to do photoshopping to try make it look better!!!!!!

Stand in the hot sun for 20 minutes, 30 weeks pregnant - the minister even asked the groom & bride if I could swap sides... Groom said nope.

Needless to say my family was more concerned about me fainting down stairs than the wedding... And I avoided the photos due to not being able to stand up.

I was pretty annoyed that because I had qualifications/studied in beauty and was the "girly" one, that it was expected (not asked until the morning of the wedding) to do nails, hair and makeup for myself, 2 other bridemaids and the bride. I probably wouldn't have minded if the bride had organised it with me prior, but I pretty much woke up that morning under the impression someone else was coming along to do it for us until the bride mentioned that because I can do it, she just expected I would and not mind. I had 2 hours to do 4 ladies hair, makeup, nails etc - it was a nightmare!

I could write a pretty detailed list of everything that went wrong for that wedding and the high exectations of the bride, I was only a bridesmaid which really annoyed me because she had a "maid of honour" who basically did nothing.

    wear f&^%$ing pink!!!

the one color i told sil i wouldn't wear, let alone pay hundreds of $$ for a dress that color.

i got the same speech (it is only one day blah blah) then she 'borrowed' mt bridesmaid's dress a month after the wedding and hasn't returned (now 6 yrs).

so i basically bought her a pink dress......

(this is one of the reasons we had a small surprise wedding with no bridesmaids, best man etc.)

Took the wedding dress from sydney to koh samui (Thailand) and it wasn't a small dress! Had to be in carry on over head luggage on both planes the whole time so it wouldn't fold, was never officially asked to it was just expected never got a thank you oh that reminds me wasn't a brides maid either just was expected to do it all

I'm a bit stunned at what brides seem to expect the bridesmaids responsibilities to be!! My cousin didn't expect us to do anything, everything was organised for us, the worst thing for me was having to wear my hair in a style that didn't really suit me, which wasn't that bad really! I'm also amazed that some of you had to pay for your own dresses!

WOW as a bride to be in 6 days it's so strange to read things like this.. As far as I was concerned its my day and me asking them to be involved was enough, I paid for their dresses (x 4 $400 each plus alteration costs) I paid for their shoes, I have organised hair, make up, nails, jewellery (yes paying for all that too!)
I would never expect them to do anything they didn't want to, I have asked them the whole way if they were comfortable with everything.
The only thing I have expected was the hens night which was amazing they did such a great job!
I couldn't imagine asking them to do stuff that they clearly wouldn't want to do!!!

I was exactly the same paid for everything for my girls! Now I am a bridesmaid for 2 of the girls at the same time n it's a completely different story paying for everything

Not a bridesmaid, but my brother asked me to do a bible reading at his ceremony when he knows I am very strongly atheist. I was horrified and he got all cranky when I said no as "but it's already been planned!". Well that will teach you not to check with me before planning things, won't it... The wedding was on my daughter's 5th birthday too, but that's a whole other vent...

Same except I arranged my own hen's night, because I wanted to. My bridesmaids chose their own dresses, shoes, jewellery, hair do, make up. I didn't car whether they "matched" and it was actually one of them who insisted the dresses were the same. I wanted them to wear something they liked and would wear again and wanted them to feel comfortable given how long the day was.
