Jehovas can actually donate organs if they wish to do so but it's more the blood transfusions and blood donations that is more the thing. Something to do with a verse in their scripture about abstaining from blood. Some choose to donate others don't I guess it's how much they believe in their writings and bible. That's what I can get what I have read.
I am an organ donor and am willing to donate everything they can take. If my death saves another life then why not.

I think there has been work in the area of synthetic blood - and talk of JW elders relaxing their doctrine to allow their followers to receive this as a life saving transfusion.
Must be hard as a doctor to know that you could have easily saved a life, but you were restriced by the beleifs of the individual.

Thanks to everyone who has answered - I know it's such a personal decision.

The Bible does not definitely rule out medical transplants of human organs, donating organs or tissue where the operation does not involve blood misuse. So it is purely a personal decision, based on what your conscience will allow

It does however, clearly forbid eating blood, and taking in blood.Blood is mentioned in the old testament and also in the new testament at Acts 15:29 - "to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!”

This is why Jehovahs Witnesses strictly abstain from blood. There has been alot of progress in non blood / synthetic treatment due to witnesses tho (as some are doctors themselves) so there are plenty of alternatives

Totally off topic and tmi, but does "from fornication" mean Jehovah's cannot *ahem* swallow?

DF feels similar, how can I say goodbye to him if not ALL of him is there. I get his reasoning, which is why I haven't decided on yes or no.
