nah . I"m not - I"ve worked in a few different schools, and the office ladies are often quite quick to point out what is their responsibility and what is not .. i'm pretty sure that there would be fine print where it states that school banking is NOT their responsibility. The office lady has probably been at school since around 7am (to organise staff replacements) and has probably already had many many people come to her with issues ... she was probably erring on the side of your child putting the money somewhere else ...

I highly doubt that its the first time that banking money has gone missing?

I find it really surprising how quickly some people are jumping in to assume that an employee would happily STEAL $200???!! really??? its not worth losing your job for $200 - and most people are smart enough to know that - lets assume innocent till proven guilty huh???

Yes its stressful to lose that much money - and if you aren't happy with the admin staff and their attitude, by all means tell the principal, but I dont think its fair to accuse her of stealing the money, there is simply no proof.

This. The school has proved that it doesn't have the ability to look after such large sums of money, so I wouldn't be risking it all for their benefit.

Personally I would stop sending the money and let the school know why they were now missing out on so much towards their fund-raising. It might motivate them to raise their standards.

Veve would it really state in their contracts that they don't deal with banking? How bizarre, what about school fees, camp trip money etc? They should be used to dealing with large sums of money, that's my issue here, that the people working with money need to be responsible for it. And the flippant attitude this woman took was nowhere near good enough.

I too like Veve have worked in many schools, etc and "school banking programs" are different and separate to banking for the school - camp fees, etc

School banking programs are fundraisers for schools (the school receives a commission for each new account usually) so they are usually run by a parent or volunteer and not by the admin team in the office > they have enough to do as it is!
