Kmvw-I'm sure that number is fine, I've seen much lower numbers progress to perfectly healthy pregnancies. Are you getting another BT Friday? The doubling of the level is what's important.

Hi Zak! Nice to see you here.

kmvw - Don't worry yourself, if you can - it's out of your control. Hopefully your next bloodwork and/or your scan will see things progress. xx

    Hi all,

Hope you are all well and your cycles are all progressing as well as can be. I have been quiet but reading all your posts daily. Our cycle has offically begun.

I feel like today we have offically begun! We had our orientation with the fn nurses this afternoon and picked up our first set of drugs. They have given me Luprin to be injected once a day. I even did a practice injection today. I have to start the Luprin on day 14 of my current cycle which is in 3 days time. I have so excited and petrified at the same time. I'm trying to stay positive and keep thinking one day at a time. Does anyone have any tips on staying calm and positive?

Kmvw - The nurse today mentioned something about number of follicles and eggs she said lower doesnt mean bad or anything and sometimes higher doesnt mean that they are all good. Sometimes she said its better to have less follicles/eggs and that means that they are better quality ones. Not sure if that helps and being my first time on this rollercoaster Im just getting my head around things.

BTW ladies I know this is going to sound silly but what is AF and abbreviation for?

Thanks. Looking forward to reading more of your posts.

Hey ladies – I haven’t been writing much lately just sooking & feeling sorry for myself but I have been reading along & I am so happy 2 see the 1st BFP.

CONGRATS you are pregnant!!!! Try not worry 2 much I no that is easy 2 say but u have HCG so u have a buba growing! For peace of mind I’d def be having ta 2nd BT Friday but if the numbers are going up sit back with ur feet up for the next 9 months
I think sometimes we ivfer’s no 2 much about the science & we are always waiting for the bottom 2 fall out (well thats me) My FN said that if we were “normal people” anything over 25 hcg is a positive pregnancy & we wouldn’t be seeing a Dr until 6 wks check up but with ivf patients anything over 100 hcg is pregnant! I wish you the best of luck & I will check back on Friday

    Welcome princess!!!!

Good luck in your first cycle. My recommendations for staying positive and calm.... Keep busy, go for walks, use a meditation cd at night to help you sleep (its awesome), I am doing accupuncture which I love. Talk to your nurse and dr if you have questions.... Thats why they are here!!!! And of course vent on here!!!

AF is aunty flo... A acro for your period what we dont want to see this month!!!

kmvw - awwww babe, FNs always say negative stuff that makes us worry unnecessarily & they're usually wrong. Honestly, I had one say the most ridiculous stuff to me last time that was so bad & total misinformation. I put in a complaint.

That is not low - or rather, it doesn't really matter. What matters is how it rises. There is such HUGE variance in HCG levels that anyone who knew what they were talking about would not call that low. Quite frankly, I'm amazed that they would say that to you but then just say "see you at the scan" and not even ask you to have another BT. That's outrageous. You're doing the right thing having another one. it rises nicely. Try not to stress too much.

Kmvw- what a horrible thing for a fn to say!! Low?? Average hcg for 16dpo is 33-223... So not low but normal! Like everyone else said its the doubling that matters. Check out the 16 dpo project they studied hcg numbers 16 dpo. For people with hcg 100-199 73% went on to deliver. So it's very likely your pregnancy will continue- cant believe someone would stress you out like that! The stress is more of a worry than the hcg level!

At 16 DPO, the average HCG level is 95 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 33-223 mIU/ml.
As you can see 142 is GREAT IMHO. What matters now is that it double when you have the next BT.

It doesn't even have to actually double in 2 days - just so you don't panic if it doesn't. That's a common and oft-repeated misconcetion. (in fact, my FN told me it had to double EVERY DAY! Way to make me panic) The doubling is more like every 3 days. And it's really a guide.
