    Default Constant Chronic Pain

Dear bubhub mothers and mothers to be,

My Sister is 6 Months pregnant with her first child - and has been experiencing constant 24/7 chronic pain in her upper abdomen area since the early weeks of the pregnancy.

The pain has become so severe that she can barely move, and cries on a regular basis. She's been hospitalised numerous times, with doctors running every test they can think of - with no conclusive diagnosis as there appears to be nothing wrong at all. Yesterday the doctors advised that the only thing that they can conclude, is that it is psychological - and they prescribed to her some Zoloft. In speaking with my sister, it is obvious that this chronic pain is physical and not psychological.

The pain is so severe, that my sister thinks she cannot make it through to the end.

Have any of you heard of such unexplainable pain during pregnancy? Any remedies? And are there any recommended pregnancy specialists / practitioners in Sydney that could be worth seeing?

    Many thanks in advance.

I had pain at around six months. Mine was apparently ligament stretching. It went away. I took codeine and paracetamol tablets.

Are u sure its not psychological? There was a period I was severely depressed, and I did experience some pain that was psychological (I swore at that time it felt so real) but got better once I was on anti depressants.

Or like PP said, could just be ligaments stretching? I've never heard of it hurting that much before, but everyone's different...

Sorry to be of no help, I really hope ur sis gets some answers soon... Maybe just keep seeing different specialists?
