Ex and I got engaged after 3 months, we were engaged for 7 years (together for 7 years in total too) but never married. Thank God.

ETA: If I do get engaged again, I want it to be with the right man (I thought ex was at the time) AND I don't want another long engagment.

I started going out with DH when I was 17. It took 9 years before we got engaged, and we were married 10months later. We have now been together for 14 years I must say that I wasn't too impressed with waiting for 9 years before a proposal though
