Default Need recommendation for doc that understands Luteal Phase Defect and Low Progesterone

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a gyn or fertility specialist in Sydney that understands and treats the issue of a luteal phase defect and/ or low progesterone.

Preferably in the Inner West region but does not really matter.

Ii have had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in March this year, with early spotting at 5-6 weeks, lower back pain and absolutely no breast tenderness. I have since then had two normal cycles, both 28 days long but with a luteal phase (phase from ovulation until onset of menstruation) of 8-10 days. I also feel like there is an overall progesterone issue (just never get any breast tenderness before menstruation but headaches etc).

I have seen a fertility specialist but she seems to dismiss it and has not even offered any hormone testing (even though she did the progsesterone test 7 days DPO and it was too low).

I would like to see someone, who really understands the issue and is a bit more proactive, helpful.

Many thanks for all your assistance with this and best wishes to all of you!!!

Hi Sualine. I am sorry that you are going through this. I can't recommend someone in Sydney, but my fs in Brisbane put me straight on hcg injections after ovulation (or I could have had progesterone pessaries) for a 7 day luteal phase and I was utd that cycle. Definitely try to get someone else because it made the world of difference for me.

Many thanks Zoo Baby and Nat11 for your responses.

@Zoo Baby: I had something like progesterone pessaries in mind - given after ovulation and hope, I can find a doc that is willing to give this a try.

@Nat11: Many thanks for the recommendation. I will certainly give Dr Buist a try!
