Default Easier to conceive for subsequent pregnancies?

Everyone keeps telling me it'll be easier next time. It took a year to conceive DD (with a m/c along the way) and after being told we'd need IVF (endo and poor swimmers) we were surprised to achieve it naturally. DH wants to start TTC now in case it takes ages next time too - we don't want a really big gap.

Did you fall pregnant more easily the second (or third or fourth or fifth...) time?

No that isn't the case for me i got pregnant with my son first go which was just from the one day out of the first month just 2 years ago! Now we have started trying for our second this is going to be our 3rd month of trying i am very suprised i just thought i would get pregnant straight away like last time. So i have gone out and bought an ovulation kit for this cycle as we must be doing it at the wrong time or something.

I think everyone is different! Some take longer with their first, others the first is quick and the second takes longer. Some people need assistance with their first and then get surprise natural BFPs. While a friend conceived her first in 3 months and after 15 months trying for #2 is now trying IVF! You never know what will happen.

Our first was a surprise, our second we were NTNP and were pg third cycle. So I guess that means our second took longer??

My first was conceived after one DTD, and while using the pill, condoms, spermacide and dtd on a very low fertility day. Just a total random chance...obviously she decided she was needed on earth and nothing was going to stand in her way.

We're ttc number 2 as of the 7th of June, and hoping it's just a quick the second time. I'll keep you updated.

I honestly feel it is luck of the draw. I conceived DD first month. Then the second 1st month which I miscarried and then got BFNs the 5 months following the m/c??? I have had friends who needed IVF the first time get a surprise baby 4 months after having the first...

Sorry to hear that. I hope all those years of trying will eventually have a happy ending.

I conceived ds and dd very quickly. We have been trying for a 3rd for 9 months now and have had one chemical pregnancy in that time. So I do think it varies. It's luck I guess.

Nooe not easier for me either!

DS1 was an accident....we DTD on a high fertility day and fell pregnant.

    DS2 took 4 cycles

    #3 m/c took 1 year of TTCing

DD took 10 cycles of trying

However for two of my friends there were both on IVF for their firsts...then started TTCing about 4 months after their bubs were born and both fell pregnant naturally within 2 cycles. They both thought as they had so much trouble woth their first that it would take just as long but nope!

As another PP said....think its just luck of the draw.

    Harder for me.

DD took 1 year + Clomid

Now trying for number 2. So far up to 13mths, and now on to IVF.

I asked my FS about that 'it'll be easier next time' comment, as I heard it a lot too. He said that very often it's harder, as you're older the next time you try.

Based on my experiences I would say to try sooner rather than later, but as PP have said - it is different for everyone.
