I agree about the dogs. I love animals and I don't mind a cat jumping on my lap or a dog wagging its tale and saying hello but those ones that jump up on you and lick and smell bad.. Yuck I always go home and wash the kids and myself.
Generally tho I don't care what someone's place is like I don't have to live there as long as its hygienic and doesn't smell of cat urine it's all good.

at all the dog related posts! When we had a dog she was trained to not go in to the living room. So she'd sit on the border of the living/dining room when we had people over and wag her tail like crazy hoping they'd go and pat her but the lounge room was pet free so it was really up to the guests if they wanted to go and pat her or not. Some would, some wouldn't. After a while she'd calm down and go to sleep and then ignore those who obviously didn't want to pay her any attention.

If the coffee is crap... Ha ha

I have a Nespresso and wish I could take it with me sometimes to a friends house...

This is said (a little) in jest, as I love going to my friends homes, just wish they had nicer coffee.... Ha ha

PS (I am a coffee nut/addict and only have 2 a day and want them to be good)

Besides this, I can't think of anything that has ever annoyed/irked or upset me.

Snap to the dog hair/slobber/jumping. I have no problem with dogs but I like to approach them, not have them all over me.

And i don't like if people ignore the fact that you or your kids are scared of their pet and refuse to contain the pet during the visit.

Oh yes! I had a friend who owned two cats, my kids were terrified of them and she'd invite us over and then wait until my kids were screaming and clinging to her legs and then she'd say 'okay I'll put them away' and then spend the next 2-3 hours asking my kids if they could be let out yet. Why she couldn't put her cats away before we came over is something I'll never understand and I also don't know why she spent the next few hours trying desperately to let them back out again....if you want your cats out, don't invite us over. I'm sure the cats were fine for a couple of hours with their food, litter, water and a couple of toys in one room.

I hate that weird smell at unclean houses. Dirty dishes? Pet? I don't know what it is but makes me want to vomit

I used to hate going to my parents house - cigaret ash all over the coffee table, several overflowing ashtrays scattered around, smoke still lingering.
