Have you got FOXTEL? If you do you could pause the tv or record it.
If not, maybe tell your DH to play with your DD in another room for a bit!
I have the same problem but with a 4 and 3 year old, the baby is easy I just boob her lol.
I don't watch the news or any adult shows around my kids anyway but if there is something I know I will want to watch and the kids are awake, I record it and watch it when they're sleeping
News, I usually just get it online. I find I can read while tuning out other noise quite easily haha!
I must admit when people ask me what the most useful purchase with a newborn was I tend to say Foxtel IQ hahaha. I don't actually watch much TV but it is SUCH a luxury to be able to rewind, and we never got to watch the few programs we DO like we it's nice to be able to record them.
So basically, no advice from me OP I'm sorry. Just sympathy. I think your LO is too young to do that sadly. Although hubby should understand! It will get better over time!!
One word. Tivo.
