    Default intense upper back pain?

Just wondering if anyone else has/is experiencing this. I don't remember it with my first pregnancy, but this time I've been getting occassions of intense upper back pain (between the shoulder blades). It hurts so much it makes me feel nauseaus (although never enough to actually throw up).

If possible, I get DH to rub really really hard in this area and that seems to help, but when that's not possible, it can last for 10/15 minutes at a time.

So far it's been fairly sporadic (maybe 1-2 a week) but tonight it's happend twice within a few hours and is so sore.

Thanks Chookylaa - I hadn't even considered my posture. Unluckily for me, my boobs don't change too much during pregnancy... the one thing I've actually WANTED to get bigger

I will try to be more aware of my posture and see if that helps.

How many weeks are you? I got this pain in my 3rd trimester when my ribs were all being pushed out due to the size of my bump. I found it excruciating. Resorted to massage therapy which worked wonders. And keep an eye on posture as pp mentioned.

A random stab in the dark here. Could it be gall stones?

I was going to say the same thing.

My gallstone pain was in my upper front, but I have heard it can present in the upper back.

I would be going to see my gp.

Mine started out with tightness between my shoulder blades, and I thought maybe I was just slouching too much. Then all of a sudden it got much much worse. Nausea and vomiting soon followed.

I agree, go see your GP. Just in case.

It's funny how the same thing affects different people isn't it. Mine was excruciating pain in my front it would go rock solid and I couldn't un-tense the muscles. I thought I was dying!

I had pain in my upper back due to a bra that did not fit properly! My boobs grew huggggeeee in the final weeks and i never got a propper fitting bra to acomodate them! My pain also came thru to the front just under my boobs as well.

The AH BRA......is fantastic during pregnancy.

Thanks ladies. I have a doctors appointment in a couple of weeks, so will mention it then. I didn't even consider that it might be something like gallstones!

I've just reached 30 weeks, so I'm hoping it's just the pressure as hollychops mentioned.

Might also invest in some new bras, just in case. I'm still wearing the ones I had for bub #1 and they've been uncomfortable from the start.

Now I'm really worried it might be gallstones - but hoping it's just something pregnancy related
