That's awesome that you've had no morning sickness!! I've been sick as a dog. I'm actually looking at quitting work early because it's just too much. Tiredness is amazing isn't it. I just had about 5 days off due to exhaustion, and I've slept nearly the entire time.

Congratulations!! That is awesome though - more people to share the journey with!!

OH and dancingtren - if you don't mind me asking, are you having the blood test with the nuchal? People here keep telling me I can't have it because it is twins, even though the doc gave me the referral for it!... confused :S

lithium fx - i was told to get the blood test done but to be prepared for the possibility of a 'false positive' - apparently its not very accurate with twins and the percentage can come out as a higher risk due to the blood results being different to that of a singleton pregnancy (thats how my gp ob explained it anyway!). i had my bloods done at 10 wks and am having the nucheal on thursday - 4 more sleeps!
are you going private or public?
do you know anyone else with twins?

Hi everyone, would love to join you! I am currently 17 weeks with non identical twins conceived through IVF, these will be our first (and long awaited) babies. I am due mid november although my doc is working off Oct 31 (38 weeks). It would be really nice to chat with people going through the same thing!

OH awesome to know dancingtren!! I am going for the nuchal in 2 weeks. Am 11 wks today.

A different GP other than mine explained it to me - but I just wasn't sure what people were doing. I think I'll have both and see what comes out with the results. The GP told me I was low risk - but I just wanted to be sure.

Quartz - that is great news! Welcome!!!!

I am pleased to have other people to talk too - I don't have anyone around me with twins (although they run in both our families). This is our first pregnancy, so I'm super excited!!!

hopefully the whole 'false positive' thing isnt even an issue for both of our nuchals and the doc was just worrying me for nothing!
its great to have someone to talk to that is going through a twin pregnancy at the same time. i havent quite got to the really excited stage yet though as im still in the 'freaking out' stage!
have you started thinking of what you need to buy and deciding on prams etc? im finding it very overwelming at present.

quartz - welcome and congrats! wow 17 wks - how has your pregnancy been so far? are you feeling very big yet? will you be finding out the sex of your babies?
we will be as ours are identical and will therefore be the same sex. i already have a little boy so really want to know if we will be a family of all boys or have some girly vibes thrown in there too.

only 2 more sleeps to my scan. i really cant wait. i had a bad dream about the babies last night and now just need to see them again.

I think we'll find out the sex too!!!

omg, I know - the stuff?!
I think I want two cots - and I'm thinking of getting those tetra snuggie insert things instead of a bassinet, and putting one cot in our room to start, and then separate later.. thoughts?

prams.. I posted on here about prams, but didn't have much of a response yet. I was thinking about getting an inline one, because side by side looks huge.
    They are pricey!!!!

Other than that, I was really thinking about only buying the essentials in clothing - bonds suits, singlets etc.

And - I'm thinking of going cloth nappies, just for the cost side of things - but I want to go old school terry ones, with possible mcn's thrown in for going out in public LOL.

    A baby bath?
    Changetable? I'm still undecided!!

re cots, i was thinking of sharing them both in one cot to begin with too. our nursery isnt that big and it will help for space plus i have read some lovely things about them wanting to be close to each other. i think it will work til they start to move around a bit! we wont do the cot in our room though, i tried with my ds and lasted 2 nights! im too light a sleeper. but the nursery is right next door to us so i can still hear enough.

re prams i have NO idea what to do. its so hard having to plan for 3! there arent many pram options for 3 kiddies. ive done a few posts about it and still arent sure what ill do, get a double and use a baby carrier for one of the twins, get a skateboard for ds, or bite the bullet and get a triple. decisions decisions!

re cloth nappies, i did MCN part time with ds (have been slack since being pregnant though). i like them but dont think ill be doing them when these babies are newborn. it is quite a bit of work. although if you had a nappy service and did terry flats it might not be so bad, you wouldnt have to do all the washing yourself then!

i think a baby bath and a change tables are essentials - from experience

my other stress is car seats and fitting 3 in my car!

i have my 12 wk scan today. i really cant wait to see the bubs...

Oh this is so exciting! I'm so glad there are a number of us and don't have to feel alone in this exciting, yet, at times daunting experience! Congratulations everyone!
Sorry to hear that you have been so sick lithium.....hopefully you will start to feel better in your second trimester. And as for the fatigue...Woah! I know what you mean. It was absolutely unbelievable to feel so exhausted. It should get better for you too soon. Fingers crossed! I felt the same, wondering how I would get through the pregnancy feeling like that constantly, but luckily I'm feeling a lot better now. Hope you do too soon.
I know what you mean about advice. I found the same thing too. As much as people mean well with advice, a lot of it may not relate to having two babies. I have bought a couple of good books, and some that I am planning to read, if you would like me to pass on the info. (Can I do that on here? Apparently I can't name other organisations and don't know if I can?)
I'm also looking at cloth nappies, mainly for the cost as I can't imagine paying that much constantly for two lots of disposables. Plus, the waste/rubbish factor! People look at me like I'm mad when I mention it, which is really starting to frustrate me. Although everything is frustrating me at the moment! Feel like I'm having eXXXtreme PMS constantly! Poor hubs and mum.
I had a look at prams in a shop the other day, and walked out in tears! was so overwhelmed and worried about how I would lift it up and squeeze it into my small sedan continuously. But had a look at people's recommendations on here and narrowed it down to a few that I will look at. Take 2!
We will be getting 2 cots (lucky a few friends are donating), but will start them in one cot first I think, until they get bigger.
I did have my nuchal test/scan. All was well from what could be seen, so that was good to know. We also found out early that we were having twins, at 6 weeks. Unfortunately at the time, we could only find one heartbeat, so had to wait a long 3 weeks for another scan at 9 weeks. Was a hard time as we were so excited to finally be pregnant, but unsure of what the outcome would be. Luckily it seems that one of them was just hiding at the time! I wasn't going to find out the sex initially, but now we are getting to excited, so I really want to know who we are going to meet.
I have to say though, the last few weeks has been a bit hard. Along with the extreme moods, after the relief of 'getting through' the first trimester, it has hit me just how hard this is going to be. It's funny, I had a picture of what it would be like having a baby, having one precious bundle of joy....I'm just petrified now that I'll be stuck at home with 2 crying babies, being a milk machine, hubs at work and my mother 'living' with us to help. Not the family scene I had pictured! I'm freaking out a bit!

fudge.. everything you said, I know!!! I feel the same. Completely overwhelmed by it all, and I don't think that helps me get by at work or feel less sick either!!!! I need to try and get a handle on it and deal with telling my workplace that I just can't manage full time work at the moment and see what happens!

I would absolutely love the info - I feel I'm lacking information.
I'm also glad you had the nuchal at it was fine, I have 2 weeks til mine and I'm getting anxious about it being bad :S

I also want to try cloth nappies, and am thinking i'll get the weird look too!! but I want to give it a go, because I think I have to try and limit cost somewhere!!!!
