    Default Airline website question??

If virgin's website says a certain flight is sold out on a certain day, is it possible that a travel agent can still get me a reasonably priced flight on that day and time?

Do they have access to a different allocation of seats?

I was speaking to an airline and they told me that some agencies pre-purchase a bulk set of seats, which is why they can offer cheaper prices than the airline itself. So based on that, I would think that the answer was yes.

When I was trying to reschedule an urgent flight, the airline said it was sold out, but I found seats available on other agents. The problem was they wouldn't let me reschedule because they didn't have any available seats, so my only option was to purchase the new seat outright and suffer the full loss of my previous booking.

I use www.jetabroad.com.au as my first port of call when looking for flights.

Yes, it is possible. There are different "classes" of seats on flights (and I don't mean business class, economy etc).

A lot of the time an airline will hold a certain class of seats till the last minute.

A travel agent should be able to put you on the wait list for a flight and when the spare seats are released then you get one. However this is usually only 24 hours before a flight so it's risky!
