    Hello Tania and ceecee1 .
I am in this journey for few years now. Started in Westmead x 4 cycles, though private will deliver better results but it much worst. It just a money making clinics, they see you as $$$ and take an advantage of disadvantaged couples.

Unfortunately, i had the same experiences with both IVF Australia and Genea.
Genea : had 2 x cycles with lack of competences of nurses and Doctors. Dr just guessing with what to prescribe. "Try this/ try that"- based on no proper investigation. York st or Norwest everyone is acting like you own them something, from receptionist to nurses, helpless. Nurses are incompetent to take blood test not funny at all. Nurses in surgery theater much better caring for recovery. I was lucky wuth no pain after egg collection, Dr very gentle, only 4 retrieved , 1 fertilized but didn't stay after transfer.
IVF Australia Bondi/Maroubra : Everyone is friendly before the deal is sealed. They love to promise just to sell the cycle. Afterwards, no one cares, nurses are lazy, can't be bothered at all, the nurses approach is "no questions should be asked" they just dictate and give orders . I was confused tried to get more info but it's pointless. My Dr was rough , on the day of egg retrieval had the most inappropriate body language , i was so uncomfortable just wanted to leave the maroubra clinic.
To sum up, nether private hospitals are doing better job than Westmead, they have the same technology, DR average or lower standard and nurses helpless. It's all about the brand and marketing, Genea / IVF Australia have shareholder and make business as any other industry , even it's no ethical to take advantage in medial industry .
    Good luck all.

Much preferred Genea over IVF Australia. Nursing staff and Doc much more professional.

I was referred to Genea Liverpool back in 2012 and could not speak more highly of the doctor, scientists and nurses I worked with. I felt very well-informed and received phone calls from the nurses every second day. Egg retrieval is done whilst awake and not at all painful with a very quick recovery (home in an hour). Our first round of IVF resulted in only 3 eggs with two fertilised but as we were told it's quality over quantity and they were right, be got a BFP after our first transfer!

Three years later and we are starting our second round in hope of a brother or sister for our son!

[QUOTE=PrincessLaia;7094846]i am very glad to read this as I've just had an absolutely horrific time with Genea, I can't say enough about how neglectful and disinterested they have been through our two failed cycles - so neglectful that the second transfer failed for exactly the same reason as the first!

Anyway, I'm not sure if all IVF Australia doctors test the same things or if you had a particularly good doctor? We're down the south coast so our doctors are often just in satellite offices, but I've heard good things about Dr Sacks but not much about the doctor available to us down here. But your experience has certainly increased my confidence. I am getting very tired of this exhausting process [/QUOTE

Just thought I'd see if there are any new updates on Genea? We are going through the Coffs Harbour branch. Starting iui next month for a few rounds and if no success from that ivf in July. Would be interested to hear if anyone has any feedback on this branch or and updated feedback on Genea

I would debrief with the FS to get some view on what they think worked/didn't and how they would tweak the protocol going forward. A lot is trial and error and some times you just have really bad cycles for no reason whatsoever. If you keep chopping and changing FS each time you won't have anyone who really knows your body and how you respond to different things. IMO Genea and are well worth the $$$ I met with IVFA and they seemed good (very much dependent on the FS) but I couldn't fault Genea and in particular their pgd testing/embryology which is absolutely world class. Their processes are ******lined and they are a very slick operation. They've gotten me pregnant twice even dealing with male factor and my ageing eggs

    Hi @kylez83
We did IVF through Genea at Coffs. Successful first time with my 7 month old baby girl! Can't fault Genea, they were great.
    Happy to answer any questions
    Good luck

@runningbear12 oh congratulations! That's fantastic! Did you see Dr Ward? Did you go straight into ivf or try iui first? What was your fertility issue? We have low sperm count. We are doing iui starting January for about 4 months if need be because we already have a pretty stressful Jan / Feb and don't think doing the first round of ivf then will be good for us, so jumping in on the second round of ivf for the year in July if the iui doesn't work. We are also seeing Alan Tarlinton for Accupunture too as have heard it can potentially help increase sperm count, and I have anxiety so hoping it will help keep me calm.

Thanks! No we saw Dr Nanda but Dr Garland performed the procedures. A friend went through Dr Ward. All OBs in Coffs seem great. We did have one try of IUI, it was really just to fill in time and make us feel that we're "doing" something while waiting. I was pretty uncomfortable after the procedure and for the tww, decided for me it wasn't worth it so we just waited for Sept round of IVF. Low sperm count was one of our issues. I also had diabetes but didn't know, only found out the fertility round of tests. So I took 3-4 months to get healthy. At the time of the IVF my husband and I were the healthiest we had been in a long time. I feel this helped our chances and of course contributed to a very healthy cheeky baby! I too saw an acupuncturist- I started initially to calm myself as well. I had acupuncture before and after the embryo transfer and whether this contributed to a successful pregnancy who knows... it certainly didn't hurt and I really feel like it helped me.
