Hi Rachel it's easy to lose optimism during IvF and start thinking of it as a long term process! It happened to me too . Despite having a very senior FS, great response to meds, lots of eggs, 100% fertilisation, 5 top quality blasties and a great ET i still got BFN . It was a good reality check and made me realise there really is no guarantees . Not sure what to expect from the FETs now. I am glad you will hang in there with your clinic but I think the ICSI is a great idea. GL

Thanks Lillac will definitely consider for next round. I forgot to mention my other concern for low fertilisation this time was that for some reason our eggs/sperm preferred/survived better with IVFA embryo's culture suit, rather than just being a bad round. I don't know I'll probably ask our FS this question...I'm sure this could play a part.

i hadn't actually considered embryo culture and all that stuff. its funny how i just put my faith in the science without really knowing what they are doing!

Also just for your info, the maroubra clinic is closing is July for renos. IVFA bought out the whole building including the dental clinic so hopefully any existing probs with the embryo environment should be resolved

At first after the failed 2 thaws we automatically thought it was the clinic. If only 1 failed maybe we would have thought otherwise. This time since the fertilization was so low it's hard not to think it could be the culture as the embryologist was very surprised by the low numbers..the clinics also play an important part.

    Default IVF Australia

    Hi Rachel,
I can see it's been a few months since your last post so hopefully you've had more luck in that time. If not, thought to stick a thumbs up for IVF Australia. We're been trying to have a baby for 3.5 yrs, have had 8 months of fertility drugs, 5 rounds of IVF and numerous tests. A family member put me onto Dr Nalini Gayer from IVF Aust at Westmead. So I tried her and on the second round got pregnant and stayed pregnant. I can't rave enough about this woman, she put me through tests (tummy tissue scraping) that no one else had thought of before. She tripled my dose of progesterone and turns out that was the missing link. Have never had such a well informed and positive Dr work with me before so thought to share in case this is of use to you (or anyone else) Best of luck.

i am very glad to read this as I've just had an absolutely horrific time with Genea, I can't say enough about how neglectful and disinterested they have been through our two failed cycles - so neglectful that the second transfer failed for exactly the same reason as the first!

Anyway, I'm not sure if all IVF Australia doctors test the same things or if you had a particularly good doctor? We're down the south coast so our doctors are often just in satellite offices, but I've heard good things about Dr Sacks but not much about the doctor available to us down here. But your experience has certainly increased my confidence. I am getting very tired of this exhausting process

Default IVF Australia vs Genea experience - please help

    Hi princesslaia
I'd like to give a thumbs up to IVFA too. It took 4 cycles but finally fell pregnant on the 3rd FET. I can only speak from my experience - I've only had the 1 clinic and FS but he tweaked my cycles each time. I don't know if all IVFA doctors use the same tests but I kept pushing mine to try different things and luckily he listened. It's the least we expect when we pay so much money.

Lillac, honestly, this is all I want! An FS who will listen and humour my requests. I'm not so naive as to expect this to work first time out, but my FS didn't try anything at all and his mantra (the clinics too) was "we don't do that". I wanted to slap him the final time he said this I was so frustrated!

It took me this last horrible cycle and one long year (we used another dreadful Genea FS before firing him for our current doctor, sigh) to remember that I'm a paying customer and deserve decent service! I'm also glad that IVf Australia send a city doctor down to Wollongong as I'm starting to suspect the local doctors are just here on holiday

Fingers crossed we have better luck with our new FS.

I was still shocked about my experience in IVF Australia 1) The FS Dr Andrew Kan shows no professional manner no caring attitude , he was late almost one hour for hyteroscopic check with no explanation , he did not know my final injection time when he hurried to my egg collection 2) Their Embryol transfer with no ultra sound service 3) the worst thing is that only because they do not work during weekend ( they only open Monday to Friday day time) they asked me to wait and put more injection to hold nearly matured eggs from Friday to Monday . This made my eggs dropped and they even know that will happen. When I asked them why could not consider patience's enmergency , they simply said we did not work during weekend if it dropped then it has to be . They are not 24/7 hours, only Monday to Friday normal time, How can such sensitive IVF medical process get normal work time as a retail shop? They wasted our money , time, hurt our health, emotion. 4) Their Sydney CBD York Street clinic blood test , average tried three times to get a simple blood test done, the most times six to get one blood test done, changed three nurses, and I am only a normal shape healthy person with no difficulty to get blood test in any clinic previously. 5) The FC could not give any better prefessional advice, his words' the level is just like somebody got information online, he also lied and covered himself with no guilty for my eggs overtime . The FS run away from egg collection surgery straight away with no any explanation or advice to me. 6) the whole process I did not feel being serviced by medical professional , only being called by several nurses which do not know more than ourself. We do not know" why""what ""how", just feel only pray for luck. We are highly educated professional and we can accept any result if we have tried our best and doctor tried their best to provide good medical service. We have respected lots of doctor in our life who are high professional standard and best work ethic and deserve the full respect and trust. But this time with IVF Australia is totally disaster. This is just a group of money diggers with no work ethic , worst operation procedure given it is specialised medical area that links to people's life and health. shame this happen in Australia. Shame to this kind of low class money digger.

    Default Agreed

IVF Australia only do egg pick ups only on Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Last year I had to wait from Thursday (the next day Friday, ideal day for egg pick up that cycle, happened to be Good Friday) through to the following Monday for IVF Maroubra to be open. Over the weekend some of the follicles burst causing free fluid in my pelvis. I could not walk, crying in pain and begging to see a doctor prior to my egg pick up. All of this fell on deaf ears. As usual the doctor left the Maroubra surgery straight after egg pick up. I did not see the doctor the whole time not even in theatre when being given then anaesthetic. Obviously hiding outside the room knowing they had stuffed up. Needless to say the egg quality was bad (I was in my 20s and we have MF) with a very low fertilisation rate that cycle.
It was a year ago and I still think about how they just couldn't have cared less!

Again last month, a Saturday egg pick up would have been ideal (my doctor even said "see you Saturday, I mean Monday" for the egg pick up which was very telling I thought.) Of course must stick to the Mon/Wed/Fri timeslots and now this time our cycle was cancelled because my endometrium was 2 days ahead of ovulation due to length of the cycle.

Basically IVF Australia are prepared to waste a lot of promising cycles in this way.
Not impressed at all with IVF Australia.
