I have a 6l one and while I love it when I'm making a HUGE batch (eg. 4-7 dinner's worth) it is annoying because you have to have it at least half full or it burns the edges - and half full is enough for at least 2-3 meals. I don't like lamb but I like to do a lamb casserole or shanks in it when we have guests but I don't want leftovers (cos I won't eat them!)
On that note, shanks are awesome in it. I always use it to make a gigantic batch of spag bol, I make vegetable and barley/lentil soup or pumpkin soup, and any sort of oven casserole. I have a WW casserole cookbook that's about 7 years old and all the recipes meant for the oven from that one work with no adjustments (just often have to double to qty to make sure it fills the cooker to half).
Now the weather's getting cooler I'm so in love with my slow cooker again!
Just a tip. Always remove all fat from meat first because its give it an odd taste if left on.
There is a great thread full of recipes on here in the recipe section..... Can't work out how to copy/paste from iPhone app sorry.
I have a Breville ikon (has a cast iron insert so u can brown on the stove then pop it straight in the cooker), huge at 7L, but I just freeze all the leftovers. I often just google recipes, I have a few books, but I hardly use them. You can generally use any recipe for the oven, just have to halve the liquid, sometimes I just chuck stuff in to make a soup and don't bother with a recipe. It is my fave kitchen appliance
Roast chicken is great too I've found, just place a whoe chicken on an upturned saucer in cooker, cover with sachet of French onion soup and cook for 6-8 hours, it's delicious, just falls off the bone!
Ooooh...loving the suggestions!! Making me hungry and I haven't organised anything for dinner yet! Gee I hate work days!
Gunna have to start googling more recipes!
