    Default Weeping eye

Just after some advice about our 3yr old male cat. For the last week his left eye has been weeping a light brownish colour . I have just been wiping it with a dry tissue . Any ideas what it could be? Should I take him to the vet? He had cat flu early last year just before we bought him from the animal welfare league, could he be getting that again ? Although I doubt it as I thought they had to catch it from another feline and we have no other animals . Any help for our dear boy fisher would be appreciated

Cat flu is from other cats, if he is allowed outside he may have had contact with another cat or, if any neighbourhood cats come visiting him through a screen door it is possible. You could try rinsing it with warm slightly salty water (kinda like a saline wash) He may just have a bit of dust or something in it, though, I would take him to the vet, you can never be too careful with their eyes.

Thanks keerah, he is a full inside cat so no other contact to other felines will give the salt water a go and hope for the best. I will take him to the vet if that doesn't clear it up though

Weeping eyes are usually a slight infection or a reaction to an allergen in their environment. Occasionally it can be diet based as well. Wiping it with a cotton ball dunked in warm salty water will often help.
