Default Just found out we are pregnant, what now?

    Hi Guys,

DH and i just found out we are pregnant, (planned), 4 weeks along.
This is our first, and not sure where do we go from here? Do we book in to go to doctors straight away for bloods or wait a couple of weeks? Any advice would be great. We have private health insurance, so thinking of going to the Mercy or Epworth in Melbourne, any recommendations and how do we go about getting in?
    We are so excited!!
    Thanks in advance

Book into the docs, they will do a blood test to confirm or a urine test, they will also then do a full check up on your vitamins and let u know in what u are missing if anything at all. They sometimes will also send you for a ultrasound around 6 weeks, ( they will give u a referral ) Then once u have that done , u go back for the results Hope it helped, and Congrats on your little bean.

Yay congrats!! Yep book in with the GP, they will do blood tests and hopefully answer a lot of your questions. You're in for a journey, so exciting! :-)

Congratulations Snowflake! Im pleased to say we are in the same boat. Got a BFP yesterday and have booked to see my GP for Monday.

We are very excited....no idea where to go from here but not too worried as i know we will be guided to where we will need to go by our GP. We are very much looking forward to experiencing the rest of our journey. This is our first and also a planned pregnancy.

Congratulations Op, and Missmizchelle as well

This is my first pregnancy and my doctor and ultra sound tech have been very good at keeping me up to date with everything, and they know I'm a bit nervous so they are very reassuring and patient with me

    Good luck with everything

Congratulations snowflake! You mentioned private health...to deliver at a private hospital, you will need to see an obstetrician, generally new to book very early!! Hth.

Make sure your GP gives you a referral to the obstetrician that you choose. Then you can book in to see them. My first ob appointment was at around 10 weeks.

Start thinking where you want to have the baby as some hospitals / or ob/gyn's book very fast.
