Default Chronic sore throat in pregnancy?

Has anyone had a chronic sore throat in pregnancy that just won't go away?

I am now on a second lot of antibiotics (different ones) and yet everytime I swallow on one side the pain is always there, never abating.
I've got no cold symptoms, just this persistant pain in my throat which is radiating up into my ear.

What helped you, I have exhausted all natural avenues and the only thing bringing 'slight' relief is panadol because of the pregnancy.

Not sure if out is the same but I have a killer sore that every night. Mine might be from reflux at night thigh - but I don't get any during the day. I have just been pooping panadol when it gets really bad.

I had a bad sore throat for what felt like weeks.

The only thing that helped was gargling with very salty water before bed and in the morning. Disgusting but effective

Yep me. A combination of nausea, reflux, low immune system, dry mouth and sleeplessness, I think!

Have no magic cures (although I keep meaning to ask chemist if I can use that throat spray that's the same brand as cough lollies) but I just drink a lot of teas or hot water in ribena when it's especially bad.

Sore throats. Vomits. Fluid retention. Aching back. Sacroiliac pain. Tender boobies. Weird skin. Stretchmarks. Leg and feet cramps. Oh pregnancy!!

Thanks ladies, yep, it seems not a lot you can do when pregnant .

Cakeish, the Ribena in hot water sounds interesting, might give that a go.
And yes, you're right, the endless joys of pregnancy!

Sounds awful. I get tonsilitis every year and there's nothing worse than the pain of that and the fact that it's linked to the ears.. so everything hurts Besides all the usual chemist stuff I'm sure you've tried, the only other thing that brings me temporary relief is honey. I just sit and lick it off a spoon slowly, straight from the jar. Honey has healing qualities and I find it very soothing for a sore throat.
Has your GP taken a swab test?
    Feel better lovely

Oil of garlic is AWESOME for sore ears!!! Apple cider vinegar is so good to gargle and then swallow for a sore throat! I drank it while pregnant. Hth

Honey and lemon juice in hot water is awesome for sore throats as well. Honey is an antibacterial and antibiotic, it's why it's the only food in the world that never goes off. I also put 2 tbs of honey and 4 squirts of lemon juice into a 750ml pump bottle and then put it in the fridge. The cold is often soothing and the lemon and honey help fight infections. U have to melt the honey first and mix it with the lemon juice and some cold water before you pour it into the bottle.

The honey needs to be raw also. Heat treated honey has no benefits unfortunately
