I agree, tell her to stick it, they're your babies! If she wants to grow up and act like a family, family will visit!

Because sadly there are too many men out there who don't put their partner's first and are some what mummy's boys. It's what I like to call the Raymond man. From everyone loves Raymond.
If I think I can figure things out, is that curiosity or arrogance?

YES! I don't like that saying "you have to respect your elders"
Yes some do deserve my respect but not all of them. Especially if they are rude!

    Sorry for going off topic

I agree with other posters - your babies; your mother's day! Ask DP to go and visit with her a while and you can enjoy your day feeling loved and special.

Perhaps they have said something and the men just keep doing it. I have had many "talks" with DP about how he shouldnt just give in to his mum but he does anyway. Sometimes it feels like we go round in circles. Luckily for me my MIL is simply annoying and not mean.

I agree - your husband needs to talk to her. Has she always been this way or does she blame you for your time apart?

Either way, he needs to tell her that you are his wife. The mother of his children and if she can't be civil and polite to you, then she won't be seeing any of you until she can.

i guess there are lots of elements to it...and how/why you broke up might be effecting them.

it will need to be talked about and your dp will have to enforce it...ie not going over there without you, not tolerating any nasty comments etc

also give it time...if it is all frsh they might not trust you/ the relationship yet and feel they are trying to protect themselves and your dp.
