My parents have photos of me completely naked in a muddy creek holding an (empty) can of alcohol, I find this more embarassing then a photo of me breastfeeding.

ETA - I should also add DP was breastfed until 4, he's not embarassed about it at all, actually he wishes his first son was breastfed(for whatever reasons bio mum chose not to, is he decision and he recpects that) But he can't wait until out little boy is breastfed and is 100% supportive of me breastfeeding into toddlerhood and i'll be making sure I have heaps of photographic evidence, we aren't emabarssed and to be honest i'm that comfortable in my choices, I don't feel it needs to be justified to anybody else, and I assume the mother on Times is just as comfortable in her deicisons aswell.
Of course the kids aren't going to do research like that. However this is such a high profile thing that it will be gossip fodder for parents of fellow kids for years to come. This lady is infamous now and regardless of whether the kids themselves look online they will know about this.

Go back and read all my posts please. You'll find I'm
Not giving a hoot one way or another about This photo. I'm understanding more and more the benefits of extended breastfeeding. That being said I question the motives and judgement of this mother who put her child in the public limelight with this controversial photo.

Once again you're missing the point and going overboard for theatrical impact. If a mother published (say for example in time magazine) a photo of her baby coming out of her vagina I'd say the same thing: bad judgement, questionable motives and potentially damaging to the child when it's older.

I'm not saying everyone has to agree, but I can definitely get why there aren't many people admitting to feeling confronted by the image in this thread.
I agree. Unless you're 100% towing the attachment parenting bandwagon on this app you tend to get judged (Ironically by the people who complain they are wronged by judgemental people)

Just read about a mums' 3.5 year old breastfeeding DD's reaction to the photo:

"oh no! That's not good! It's not safe to stand on a chair"

    LOL

Do people really notice if you have a boob or bottle in your kids mouth?...not from my experience ...although have to admit seeing a almost 4 year old Bf I would probably having a second look....
You know - I've never had anyone in my 3 years of BF ever say one thing to me about BF in public. I don't think anyone batted an eyelid to be honest. Maybe I have that look about me that says 'make a comment and you'll be kindly corrected about your ignorance'

If I see a mother feeding her child (either BF or FF) I flash a great big smile - because for some women that may have been the hardest thing for them to do that day.

Where I see judgement past is here, online (like BH or FB) where people can spew rubbish out without any real world repercussions such as a quick witted reply etc. here, your business is my business..especially in matters so controversial!

Yet - it wasn't another mother that started it - it was the media! Oh my.

And Vicpark - you have sexualised BF by using the term sucking. That toddler is consuming food - he is feeding.

Man..didn't this mother cop it too!!

Apparently she looked too pretty, was too skinny and nobody makes that face while giving birth. Oh, apparently this was staged too, she wasn't even giving birth.

    Gah. Mothers. You cannot win.
