Default My friend with VERY oily hair

Hi all! So one of my friends is getting married and she has probably the worst oily hair I have ever seen in my life!! It's something we're hoping to treat before the wedding but I've never had oily hair so I've got no idea.

Can anyone suggest how to go about it? Whats a good cost effective shampoo for her to use? Should she still use conditioner? I read on a website that baby powder is an option? She's also insulin dependent, would that have something to do with how bad the oil levels are? What about those herbal hair, skin and nails tablets?

    TIA.

I have oily hair and use the fructis shampoo for oily hair which seems to work well. Baby powder does soak up oil and dry shampoo works well too. I still need to wash my hair daily though. For my wedding I washed my hair the night before and then used a dry shampoo in the morning.

I used to have really oily hair (washed daily and it I waited 2 days it looked horrible!)

I started using matrix shampoo and conditioner and using a dry shampoo most days. Since then I can last about 4 day with it looking fine!

Most people with oily hair wash daily to stop it looking oily, which creates more oil! So I'd recommend trying a dry shampoo until that was under control

Ive never heard of matrix, where can we get it from? Do you use a conditioner often? Her biggest problem is that even when she washes it, within a few hours it looks and feels greasy again. Maybe the dry shampoo is the go. Can anyone recommend a good one? Or are they all pretty much the same?

I used to have extremely oily hair. I helped train mine to not be so oily by going longer and longer between washes. I either used a dry shampoo to help get through or if I was having a day at home just let it look terrible. I can now go 4 days!

Another thing that helped was starting to look after my skin better. I found my hair was getting oily more around the front where it touched my face which was oily too.

Finally avoid touching your hair as much as possible. If you're always running your hands through it or brushing it it encourages oil production.

You can get matrix from hair warehouse or price attack I use the conditioner every time I wash, a hairdresser told me by only shampooing, the hair overcompensates by making more oil.

I think she'd benefit from dry shampoo! I use Klorane, it's brilliant, definitely recommend it
