Default Desperate!!!Help with my laptop please!!

    Hi Ladies,
DH is away at work, and we tried to Skype video call lastnight. He could see and hear me, I could hear him, but not see him. When i went to check my devices on skype and checked the camera, the screen is just black.

Im certain it is something to do with my laptop, not his, as When i go to my webcam it doesnt show the video ****** of myself, and i can't watch any videos i have synced off my iphone.

Im getting sooo frustrated trying to figure out how to fix it so the boys can see/talk to daddy tonight
I have tried updating skype....updating my cybercam, i did all the windows updates, Flash player update...now im all out of ideas ( im not that tech savvy )
So please!!! has anyone got any tips for me?! I need to get this working, DH will be away for 6 weeks and the boys miss him so much!

I tired googling the issue you're having. What most people have been saying is that it could be a video card issue ? One person suggested down grading skype as some people are having issues with skype not being compatible with their video card.

Also I suggest looking at this forum on Whirlpool http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1847650#

His issue sounds similar to yours.

Yep reading the OP all I could think of was that it would have to be the video card.

I agree possibly the video card. I do have similar issues with skype when talking to mum, however its often a result of too many users on line clogging up the network so to speak.

Just asked DH (IT geek) and - silly question - but he said did you click the button that says 'start video'? Apparently it doesn't start automatically. I'm guessing you probably did, but thought I'd check as sometimes it's those things that can catch us all out.

Video card is a piece of hardware that's installed on the inside of your computer that enables you to watch videos. It may be 6 months old but something could have broken it or shorted it, or it could have just stopped working randomly.
Ultimately the best thing for you to do would be to have it looked at by a computer technician.

Yes, thought that was probably the case! DH reckons it could be a few things, and hard to tell without looking at it. Sorry - that's no help at all, I know! Hope you can get it sorted.
