Sex offences have the lowest conviction rate. Sadly, I don't think it'd have been different if it were a man. I had to study sex assault many years ago and read horrible stories of sex offenders being let off despite pleading guilty, including one man who raped a 9 year old when drunk and the judge telling him he was surprised he could still get it up after so much alcohol. Charming, eh?

No wonder the statistics are so terrible, it's so bloody hard to have someone convicted.

Very, very OT bit what do looks have to do with this? I am genuinely asking.

To the OP, sounds like a very horrible situation. I don't know how I would feel if I was a victim and a reaction to med was to blame so there was no conviction.

This is why so many rape victims don't come forward.

DH commented to me that when its a female offender the media usually usually uses words like affair or relationship, when its a male offender they use words like rape, assault.

A female teacher from my old high school was in trouble for having an affair with a 16 year old student many years after I left. Knowing the teacher I dont think she meant to take advantage, I think she genuinely 'loved' the student, but of course what she did was still wrong and an abuse of power.
