I had an elective c-section and once the baby was out they put him on my chest - an experience that was just profound, but it wasnt for long. They handed him to OH to cut the cord and weigh him while I went to recovery.

I know skin to skin is important but I really liked the fact that OH had immediate involvement, it made him feel important.
Once we were in my room I fed him and he stayed on my chest or on OHs chest for the whole time we were in hospital (and once home).

I had no idea they allowed skin to skin with a C-sect until I was booking in and when they told me about it I got all teary with my first a few years ago I had a GA so I didn't see her for about an hour but back then they let her stay with me in my bed for the whole night so I made up for lost time.

Not immediately. DD had mec on her lungs so they had to suck it out and then dh cut the cord. After that she was with me though
