Default Severe Endo and Bowel Resection

    Hi Everyone

I am new at this whole forum thing but would like some advice from people who are suffering/have suffered the same as myself.

I was first diagnosed with Endo at the age of 14 and I had my first lap and removal of cysts from the ovaries. I was told at that stage that there was no way of knowing if I would be infertile until I started trying to conceive.

Everything was great in the Endo dept for approx.14 years when it came back with a vengeance. I had a lap again and removal of more cysts 3 yrs ago.

1.5yrs ago again it was back but this time I had a salpingectomy and excision of severe Endo.

It was discovered 3 months ago that my Endo is back and it's strangling my bowel, I have a chocolate cyst on my ovary and all of my insides are stuck to my bowel so I am having surgery in July with both the gynae and a colorectal surgeon.

All I want is to have a family, so bad! Has anyone had the same or a similar experience and had the fortune to have a family? We have been told that our chances are extremely slim and our only hope is likely to be am egg donor, even IVF would hold a slim chance.

All opinions, thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    X

Hi! I have just read your story, and I am going to a very similar thing too at the moment, so very interested to hear how you are going with everything and provide for each other some support I too am wanting to have kids very badly, and am prepared to do whatever op etc is required. Although I have been very luck in that my ovaries seem ok to retrieve for IVF. It sounds like you are having difficulties with your ovaries and may require an egg donor?? I have been recommended to go through IVF after the bowel segmental resection, rather than trying naturally.

Did you proceed with the operation in July? and how is everything going for you?? Hope everything is going well for you. Please feel free to PM me.

Here is a summary of my story (from a previous forum post):
Early this year I had an ectopic pregnancy, and was treated with Methotrexate. Ever since the Methotrexate dose, I have had excruciating period pains (especially lower back / anal area) and also pains and bleeding during ovulation. I also suffer from constipation and bowel issues (which was previously diagnosed as IBS).

Prior to this I did not suffer that much with periods, although I was on the pill for 11 years. After 3 cycles since ectopic, I have been diagnosed with severe endometriosis. It has been found on the ovaries and recto-vaginal: bowel and uterus stuck together, and it has protruded through vagina.

I have had Laparoscopy to drain endo on ovaries, and now waiting to have Segmental rectal resection operation to remove the thing lesion of endo in my bowel and vagina. This will involve having an external bag while colon heals.

    Hi Rose123!
I had my op already on the 22nd of November last year. It all went well, apart from it taking longer than expected... 6 hours! I ended up in ICU. The surgeons said it was one of the worst endo case seen. Apart from removing endo around and very low bowel resection, I had the cysts removed from the ovaries, and also both fallopian tubes removed.
I now have an ileostomy with external bag.
The recovery is going really well and have had no major issues so far.
Time has flown by! I am now getting my reversal end of this week (31st Jan)!
Once I've recovered from the reversal, we will start with IVF 6 weeks after (egg retrieval etc).
Please feel free to send through any questions you may have
