We had shiny cream tiles in the rental we were living in while we built our home.
Needless to say there are no white shiny floor tiles here. We went with a wood-look vinyl laminate that im loving

Thought I would add don't put your smoke alarms right outside the bathroom door! Mine go off when I open the door after a shower or shower with the door open, even with the fan on

We are getting stone for all bench tops (kitchen and bathroom). So it's worth the outlay?

We were just renting at the moment but the house we are in is very dark! So make sure your house gets plenty of natural lighting. All the windows and doors to the main living areas come off the undercover entertainment area so you still need lights on during the day, I hate it! I know thats a bit if a strange one but its something you wouldn't be able to change easily once built.

I agree. But we have matte tiles and they always look dusty! Even 2mins after cleaning them.
I would have floorboards next time or high gloss tiles...
